Acclaimed by the New York Times as a "creative percussionist," Josh Perry is a passionate advocate for contemporary music and interdisciplinary performance mediums. Recently, Perry has been a featured soloist at the Kroumata Percussion Center in Stockholm, Sweden, the Transplanted Roots Symposium in Guanajuato, Mexico, and Audio Training Manual Festival in Seoul, South Korea, and the Tokyo Opera City Recital Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Festival appearances include the Donaueschingen Music Festival, MATA festival, New Voices-New Music at Carnegie Hall, June in Buffalo festival, and the Bang on a Can Marathon. Perry is a member of Iktus Percussion, ensemble mise-en, Hotel Elefant, and has recently performed with the Talea Ensemble, Wavefield Ensemble, Argento New Music Project, Mantra Percussion, and Metropolis Ensemble. A proponent for composer-performer collaboration, he consistently works with living composers and has premiered well over 100 works for percussion and mixed ensemble. He has recorded for New Focus Recordings, New Amsterdam Records, Albany Records, Gold Bolus Recordings, and Navona Records labels. Perry has performed and given workshops at Universities across the US and abroad including the Eastman School of Music, Berklee College of Music, Princeton University, Boston Conservatory, University of Buffalo, Oberlin College, University of California-Davis, Michigan State University, New College, and more. Dr. Perry holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts (DMA) from Stony Brook University and received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. He currently serves as adjunct professor of percussion at Molloy University.
